Green Energy for Businesses

We recently launched a green energy product for new and existing GHM customers. Let’s see how your business could benefit from being greener:

As the world population rises, so does the demand for energy, but tackling climate change to help protect the environment is something every business can do no matter how large or small.

The Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) scheme provides transparency about the proportion of electricity that suppliers source from renewable generation.

All EU Member States are required to have such a scheme.

Greenhouse gas emissions are categorised into three groups or ‘Scopes’ by the most widely-used international accounting tool, the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. Scope 1 covers direct emissions from owned or controlled sources. Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating and cooling consumed by the reporting company. Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions that occur in a company’s value chain.

Scope 2 guidance offers much needed clarity on how businesses measure emissions from electricity and other types of energy purchases.

Switching to a green tariff allows you to meet the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard where it can be matched to REGOs, allowing you to report zero emissions for “Scope 2” purchased electricity.
