As you’re probably aware, the networks are gradually switching off 3G over the next couple of years. However, things are moving pretty fast! Below is an update from Vodafone, who started their switch-off earlier this year in Plymouth and Basingstoke and they are now continuing their switch off in Oxford, Hull and Greater London, intending to complete by the end of the year.
Of course, we recommend upgrading to a 4G or 5G where required and can help with any business mobile phones or contracts.
Retiring 3G will create more 4G and 5G capacity, bringing better and faster coverage to more places across the UK. Customers with 3G-only devices can make and receive calls and texts through their 2G, but the data won’t be available for most users.
Vodafone is boosting the coverage and capacity on their 2G and 4G networks to ensure customers still receive a great customer experience.
