Wellbeing: Working in the heat

It’s hot, hot, hot, hot. Here are some easy fixes on how we can keep ourselves and our tech cooler:-

  • Talk to your boss about working from home or not travelling if possible to do so
  • Be careful with your devices. Most can withstand temperatures up to 35 degrees as long as they’re well ventilated – but it looks like we are heading past that and it’s even hotter in direct sunlight or in a car
  • Ensure your router is also kept away from direct sunlight, avoiding window sills, etc.
  • Remove cases etc from your devices
  • Turn down the screen brightness and switch to low power mode
  • Ensure you backup your data
  • Put your hands or feet in cold water
  • Eat light meals
  • Be careful with electric fans – ideally they should only be used up to 35°C
  • Drink water, and then drink more water
  • It is advisable to avoid strenuous exercise so maybe pass on that lunchtime run

Stay safe and enjoy.
