GHM has raised £5,000 for Helen & Douglas House by hosting a charity 5-a-side football tournament.

Helen & Douglas House provides specialist care for children living with life-shortening and terminal conditions and supports their families.

Businesses from across Oxfordshire took part in the event on Friday 29th September at the Oxford United training ground.

Teams taking part included Inside Out, Barr Group, Fidelity Energy, MGC Constructions, Lightfoots LLP Solicitors, Nexus Utilities, The Change Organisation Ltd, Executive Alarms, Savvy Group, Wellers, Iris VBS Fire & Security, and GHM.

The teams were divided into two groups, and the top two teams in each group qualified for the knockout stages (semi-finals and final). Well done to the runners-up, our very own The Gerry Hat-tricks and the superb champions – Executive Alarms, who won every game without conceding a goal! You can view all of the results here: www.tournifyapp.com/live/ghm.

Peter Rhoades-Brown of Oxford United FC presented the trophy to the winning team, Executive Alarms.

There was also a silent auction and raffle accompanying the event with prizes donated by Oxford United, Oxford City FC, Warburton Building Services, Gamma Telecoms and many more.

There were celebrations (and commiserations!) at the Queen’s Head afterwards where our charity raffle was drawn and the results of our silent auction announced. Congratulations to all the winners and successful bidders.

Liza Clothier of Helen & Douglas House said: “Thank you so much to GHM and all the teams for their fantastic effort! It was wonderful to see so many people come together for some exciting games of football and to raise money for a local cause. We’re hugely grateful to GHM Communications for their generous and long-term support, it means so much to all of us at Helen & Douglas House, and the children and families that we support.”

Mary Parker, organiser of the event said: “It has been a brilliant tournament to put together. It’s been so much fun and we’re very proud of the money raised for this incredible charity. It was great to see everyone come together for such an amazing cause.”

GHM Directors Aidan McManus & Neil McManus added: “We were absolutely delighted with the turnout, with telecoms customers, IT support customers and partners taking part in so many different ways. A huge thank you to all of the businesses that took part or supported the event. It was a fantastic afternoon and we are thrilled at the total amount raised.”
